Romney Criticizes The President In Liberty

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney stopped in Liberty.  He avoided talking about his Republican competition, and instead Romney aim at President Obama in his speech.  Find out more here.

Kansas House Bill Would Cut Income Taxes

After a five-hour debate, the Kansas House gave first-round approval to a bill that would cut income tax rates in Kansas, with the goal of growing the economy. The bill would limit government spending growth at 3 percent per year. Any income beyond that would be used to cut tax rates.  Listen to the story here.

Missouri Governor Calls For Lawmakers To Restore Funding For The Blind

Governor Jay Nixon is calling on the Missouri House to restore health care funding for blind people, after a committee voted last week to cut the program from next year’s budget.  The proposed cuts would save the state $28 million– money that would go to filling a gap in higher education funding.  Read more here.

Human Rights Groups Denounce Bigotry In Occupy Movement

About a dozen members of Occupy Kansas City and representatives of three human rights organizations say they are outraged at a broadside published in print and online that they call racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic.  Local Occupy organizers do not deny there are those sentiments in the movement but do not subscribe to them.
