A proposal to move to a single terminal at KCI moves through the city council.  Sales tax collection could extend to vehicles bought outside of Missouri.  The American Heartland theater is closing in August.

Single Terminal KCI Plan Advances

KCI officials get a tentative go-ahead to proceed with planning for a new single-terminal airport. A city council committee has scheduled a full council vote next week. Aviataion Director Mark VanLoh said the new terminal would incorporate most features those objectors like so well in the old one.  He said access would be just as quick as at the present airport and the walking distance from the curb to the gate would actually be shorter than at present.  Read more and see pictures here.

Charges Say KCK Mother Tried To Kill Her Daughters

The Kansas City, Kansas mother of two little girls  is expected in court on Friday to face charges she tried to kill them.  The one- and four-year-old girls have been in critical condition since the near-drowning on Tuesday.  Investigators said in documents used to file charges, that 23-year-old Johnna Green held the children under water until they lost consciousness. Read more here.

Sales Tax Collections Could Extend to Vehicles Purchased Outside Of Mo.

Missouri lawmakers have sent legislation to Governor Jay Nixon that would levy local sales taxes on vehicles purchased in other states with voters’ approval.    The Governor vetoed a similar bill last year because it did not give local voters a say in whether they wanted such a tax. American Heartland Theatre To Close At End of Season

The American Heartland Theatre announced Thursday it would close in August at the end of its 26th season.   More than 160 productions have been performed on the American Heartland Theatre stage since opening on April 1, 1987 on the first level of Crown Center shops.
