Changes Afoot for the YMCA
The YMCA of Greater Kansas City will announce plans today to build, close, and renovate facilities. A full-size YMCA is slated to open downtown in 2016, at the corner of 10th and Grand in downtown Kansas City, Mo. But 3 Ys in Independence, Raytown and Kansas City, Kan. will close. Read more here.
Fate Of North Kansas City Hospital In Dispute
A legal battle over the possible fate of North Kansas City Hospital is expected to escalate in court today. The hospital is asking a judge this afternoon to block the city’s recent appointments of four new members to the hospital’s board. They worry the move would unevenly ‘pack the board,’ while a broader dispute over the hospital’s ownership plays out in court. Find out more here.

The Shawnee Mission School District reached across the state line to find a new leader. The Shawnee Mission School Board last night selected Independence Superintendent Jim Hinson unanimously. He’ll begin on July 1st. Learn more here.
Security Questioned In Aftermath Of Multiple Shootings
The amount of security has come into question surrounding a multiple shooting at a private dance Saturday night in Kansas City, Mo. Five were wounded inside and outside the hall at 87th Street and Hillcrest Road. The shooter or shooters remain at large. Find out more here.
KCK Mayor Delivers Final Address, Candidates Gear Up For April Election
Mayor Joe Reardon will deliver his final State of the Government Address today as Mayor/CEO of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas. In January, he announced he would not seek a third term. Two Wyandotte County Commissioners, Mark Holland and Ann Murguia, will be on the ballot vying for the seat in the April 2nd election.
