Tissue Holder Recalled from Overland Park Bed, Bath & Beyond

At some point, a customer may have purchased a metal tissue holder containing low levels of radiation from the Bed, Beth & Beyond at 12035 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park.

The Kansas health department learned today that two metal tissue holders with low levels of cobalt-60 were distributed to the Overland Park store.

The holders are model DR9M in the Dual Ridge Boutique product line.

Dr. Robert Moser, the state's health director, says the items pose little risk to human health, but is urging the resident who may have bought the holder to return it.

“It’s better to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation,” Dr. Moser stated in a news release.

Concerns over low levels of the radioactive material in the tissue holders surfaced last week.

Bed, Bath & Beyondissued a recall on the items, which have been distributed to about 200 stores across the country since July.

The Overland Park location is the only Bed, Bath & Beyond store in Kansas to have received the holders.

According to the Missouri health department, Bed, Bath & Beyond’s Sunset Hills location in St. Louis was the only place in Missouri to have received any holders.  The store received 12.  The Kansas City Starreports they've all been accounted for.
