Beau Bledsoe has invited Hector Del Curto to Kansas City several times to perform with his group. Bledsoe just released an album, Ole Che, where they perform together on many of the tracks. Bledsoe, Harshbarger and del Curto came to KCUR recently to talk about their histories with tango. Del Curto performs with Tango Lorca in Kansas City on June 3, 2007. Kansas City, MO – Kansas City musicians Beau Bledsoe and Jeff Harshbarger of Tango Lorca opened for the band X Tango in the spring of 2005. After the show, they joined the Argentines in X-Tango for a late dinner and soon became friends with the group's bandoneon player Hector Del Curto. The bandoneon is a traditional Argentine instrument similar to an accordian. The three musicians found they shared not only a passion for sonic experimentation, but also a fascination with the traditional dance style of tango. They began sharing stages together at tango events all over the country.
Del Curto will perform with Tango Lorca at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church on June 3, 2007. Dancers from around the country will be in town for a Stone Soup Tango Festival from June 1-3.
They also play together on some tracks of Bledsoe's new solo album of tango and flamenco called Ole Che!, which is on his Tzigane label.
