Kansas City, MO – At StoryCorps recording booths across the country, friends and loved ones interview each other about their lives. Each Wednesday during Morning Edition, we'll bring you a story recorded at the MobileBooth in Kansas City. Jeremy "Miles" Jackson brought his dad, Jay Jackson, the Superintendent of the Missouri City School District. Missouri City is about 30 miles northeast of Kansas City, and with a population of about 300, there's only one school. But for 12 years, until the program ended in 2002, it was the only suburban district willing to accept minority transfer students in a program designed to desegregate the Kansas City School District. Jackson says he remembers it was the right thing to do.
