Segment 1: A local dance troupe performs an original piece based on people's experience with cancer.

The Owen/Cox Dance Group has collaborated with Gilda's Club Kansas Cityand will perform a piece about how people's lives are impacted by cancer. We talk to the choreographer, and we hear from patients, survivors and caregivers.

Collective: Our Stories of Cancer, performed by the Owen/Cox Dance Group, debuts tomorrow night and runs through March 4 at La Esquina.

Segment 2, beginning at 35:50: Checking in with the editor of the Shawnee Mission Post.

This is our regular segment where we check in with people who report on particular communities in the metro. This month: what's going on in northeast Johnson County? The Shawnee Mission School District's new superintendent, plus commercial and residential development and more.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
