Seg. 1: Next Step For High School Graduates. Seg. 2: Music And Literacy

Segment 1: Deciding what to do after high school can be tough.

For students, high school graduation oft evokes feelings of accomplishment and freedom. But deciding what to do next can be a difficult decision. We discuss different paths students may consider when looking to further their education, skills and training.

Segment 2, beginning at 30:30: How sound teaches our brains.

Studies show that active listening to music can help improve literacy rates with both kids and adults. We learn about the science behind it, as well as how classrooms are using these techniques in a practical manner.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
