Seg. 1: Love, Simon. Seg. 2: Coloring Book Of KC Women

Segment 1: A Screentime show on Love, Simon.

Love, Simon is the first big-budget romantic comedy for teens where the central love story is between two boys. We hear what the movie means to Kansas Citians.

Segment 2, beginning at 36:43: A new coloring book features women from KC history.

Esther Swirk Brown was a civil rights activist who led efforts in landmark desegregation cases like Brown v. Board of Education. Tatiana Dokoudovska was a Russian dancer who founded the KC Ballet. Their stories are featured in a new coloring book for young artists.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
