Secret Santa is off to another stop on a recent \"sleigh ride.\"

Kansas City, MO – For nearly 30 years, Kansas City businessman Larry Stewart spent the holiday handing out crisp $100 bills to people in need. Stewart gave away more than $1 million dollars anonymously as "Secret Santa." Before he died in 2007, he revealed his identity and asked his friends to carry on the tradition.

This aired on NPR's Morning Edition, December 23, 2009. Listen to the story here.

Kansas City is known for its style of jazz, influenced by the blues, as the home of Walt Disney’s first animation studio and the headquarters of Hallmark Cards. As one of KCUR’s arts reporters, I want people here to know a wide range of arts and culture stories from across the metropolitan area. I take listeners behind the scenes and introduce them to emerging artists and organizations, as well as keep up with established institutions.
