Richard Ford Takes Us North Of The Border
By Steve Kraske and Danie Alexander
"First, I'll tell about the robbery our parents committed. Then the murders, which happened later." With these words Richard Ford begins his latest novel, Canada.
In the second half of Tuesday's Up to Date, Ford joins Steve Kraske to discuss his story of a Montana teen who heads north of the border after his parents are arrested. They'll talk about why the Pulitzer Prize-winning author chose such a young protagonist and how he channeled the mindset of a 15-year old boy in the 1950's.
Hear in KC: Richard Ford speaks this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library. You can reserve seats for this event at kclibrary.org.
