Remembering Ruskin Heights
By Maria Carter
Kansas City, MO – Around 6:30 on a Monday evening almost fifty years ago, a weather volunteer spotted a tornado near rural Williamsburg, Kansas. That tornado traveled some 70 miles northeast into the Kansas City area and became one of the most infamous in the city's history, leveling the Ruskin Heights Neighborhood and killing more than forty people. KCUR's Maria Carter reports.
