Raymore Woman Faces Deportation
By Sylvia Maria Gross
Kansas City, MO – A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that a woman who lives in Raymore can be deported to Mexico by US immigration and customs enforcement. 30 year-old Myrna Dick came to the US from Mexico as a child - she's now married to a US citizen and has a 15-month old son who was born here. About 2 years ago, she went to renew her working papers at Kansas City's immigration office. There, authorities took her into custody, accusing her of claiming she was a US citizen during a border crossing in 1998. The couple has been fighting the accusation in court since then. Donald Bradley has been covering the story for the Kansas City Star since the original arrest; he spoke to Sylvia Maria Gross.
