Praying For Better Times
Kansas City, MO – Prayer is in. Of course, for many people, it never went out. But with the anxiety and misery this economy is producing, there are reports of an increasing number of prayer websites and blogs. Pastors are devoting sermons to issues of economic distress. More than a hundred years ago, the co-founders of Unity Village in Lee's Summit, began a magazine promoting the power of prayer.
That magazine evolved into what is today called "Silent Unity." Now, the printed word is still the largest part of that ministry, but telephone calls are catching up. People from all over the world call in to the headquarters in Lee's Summit, toll free, with prayer requests. As KCUR's Laura Ziegler reports, officials at Unity say more and more of those calls are directly related to concerns about money.
