Pledge For Lower Property Taxes Marks Annual Address
Kansas City, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders says his administration will hold the line in 2010 and lower property taxes. He made the remarks in his November 12th State of the County Address.
With a drop in property values the county will see less revenue in 2010, but Sanders says homeowners will see their property taxes go down. He notes the struggling economy has cut county funds by $12.1 million since adoption of the 09 budget--"once again, our employees rolled up their sleeves and made it possible for us to present a two thousand ten budget that is balanced."
The county has had budget cuts the past three years. Sanders also used his address to promote his proposed commuter rail plan, to praise a new Regional Correctional Center and announce formation of a commission to update the county charter.
