Kansas City, MO – The Inplay theater company is reviving a play this week about Barbara Jordan, a legendary political figure from Houston Texas. As a freshman Congresswoman, Jordan delivered a devastating and ultimately, historic speech during the Watergate hearings before the House judiciary committee. It was a defining moment in the national crisis, and within two weeks, President Richard Nixon would resign. Barbara Jordan soon became an icon, and the first African American to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention, nominating Jimmy Carter.
Journey with Barbara Jordan is on stage until Saturday November 17, 2007 at the Just Off Broadway Theater.
