Olathe, KS – A metro-based disaster relief group is sending a team to Japan this Thursday to lay groundwork for medical aid. KCUR's Dan Verbeck tells us the operation is far different than what went to Haiti.

The Olathe, Kansas non-profit's operations chief Steve Hower says a crisis response expert flies into Tokyo first with a public health specialist and photographer to document needs-- "we are prepared to provide medical supplies and medicines, our ready relief box' which is a pharmacy in a box which has medications for up to like 500 to 700 people."
Since the tsunami and earthquakes struck, Heart to Heart has been organizing with its volunteer air carriers to arrange transport to Japan.
