NFL To Bring Hall Of Fame Exhibit To Union Station This Summer

The NFL's Pro Football Hall of Fame will be moving a portion of its collection into Union Station this summer.

The "Gridiron Glory" exhibit is a self described "best-of" collection of the full Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. More than 200 items like former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway's jersey and vintage film footage of Super Bowls past will fill the exhibition.

It will also have Chiefs specific memorabilia like Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt's Super Bowl rings, and even the Super Bowl IV Lombardi trophy that the team won in 1970 right after the American Football League and the National Football League merged.

Chiefs Historian Bob Moore says the team's contributions to the exhibit will give fans a look at the earliest days of American football.

"The AFL's [history] is probably one that most people don't know about," Moore said. "As well as the fact that the Chiefs existed for three years in Dallas."

Union Station President & CEO George Guastello says the Lombardi trophy alone makes the exhibit a must for fans.

"When you go into that room and see the Lombardi trophy, and experience everything around it, it'll take your breath away," Guastello said. "And it'll only be more impressive because it'll be a piece of [Kansas City] history."

The exhibit opens May 23 and will run until Sept. 6.
