New Changes In U.S. Patent Law

Last September President Obama signed the America Invents Act which made some significant changes to the patent System. Changes start taking effect on September 15 of this year with more critical changes coming March of 2013.

Today on Up to Date, lawyer Stan Baker explains the effect that these new changes will bring to small companies and independent inventors. Stan Baker is a native Arkansan and is unique by virtue of holding degrees in chemical engineering, law, and veterinary medicine.  Dr. Baker's first bar admission was to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1992 prior to graduating law school.  He is licensed to practice law in the States of Arkansas and North Carolina and is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Arkansas.   Dr. Baker has extensive experience representing clients in scientific and technical settings including local regulatory boards, the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and State and Federal Courts.   He has also served as an adjunct professor in the Engineering Management Masters Program of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and served as a guest lecturer in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association.
