Lucile Bluford v. the University of Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Many people in Kansas City remember Lucile Bluford as the long-time managing editor of The Call, one of the nation's oldest African American newspapers. But some may not realize the role she played challenging segregation at the University of Missouri's Journalism School in 1939.
Joelouis Mattox has researched Bluford's case, and is talking about it at an upcoming forum. His talk A Case for Discrimination: Lucile Bluford v. the University of Missouri will be presented at the National Archives in Kansas City on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
