In the world of poetry, Patricia Lockwood is the "it girl" right now. The Lawrence, Kan., resident's poem "Rape Joke" went viral last summer, pushing her Twitter following to more than 40,000.

In addition, a recent New York Times magazine feature has put her even further in the limelight, calling her the "Smutty-Metaphor Queen of Lawrence."

On Wednesday's Central Standard, Lockwood gave Gina Kaufmann a look into her work and life.

"I think the fact that I have no boundaries really helps me," Lockwood said. "It's lawless, it's American, it's the frontier mentality."

Lockwood recited several poems during her visit, two of which we've posted here:

You can read some of Lockwood's poetry in her new book, Motherland Fatherland Homelandsexuals, on the Amazon website.
