Jefferson City, MO – A bill passed Wednesday by the Missouri House would provide Bombardier Aerospace up to 240 million dollars in tax credits to build an aircraft factory at Kansas City International Airport. The tax credits would be issued in the year 2013.
G.O.P. House Member Timothy Flook of Clay County says it would put thousands of Missourians to work, adding that they are the types of jobs Missouri wants: manufacturing, warehousing and mechanical-technical positions.
Opponents had argued that Missouri's small businesses are more deserving of tax breaks, instead of a large corporation in a foreign country. But the bill passed overwhelmingly, 138 to 14. It now goes to Governor Blunt, who has said he endorses the idea.
