Latino leaders meet with Congressmen

Kansas City, MO – A recent study by the Pew Hispanic Center reveals a significant difference between the concerns of US Latinos and Latino immigrants. Kansas City is no different - the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations recently called a meeting with area congressmen to discuss a range of legislative priorities.

Upstairs at Manny's Restaurant on Southwest Boulevard, about 60 people have gathered for a forum with Democratic Representatives Dennis Moore from the Third Congressional District of Kansas and Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri's Fifth District. Leaders of Latino organizations in Kansas and Missouri and a dozen other local politicians have come to hear the legislators' plans for the upcoming session in Congress. And they want to ask questions about issues that are important to a diverse Latino constituency.
