Knitting Club Makes Scarves For Strangers
Kansas City, MO – Knitting has become a growing trend among younger women. But KCUR's Susan Wilson recently heard about a group that brings together women of all ages, and even an occasional guy, to knit for strangers. That's what it's all about for the Knitting and Crochet Ministry of Saint James Catholic Church. The group has about a dozen regular members, who meet twice a month at the church in midtown. Many of their handicrafts are handed out at the bus stop nearby at 39th and Troost.
The knitters include Justin Martinez, Sister Mary McNellis, Sister Molly Brockwell, Mary Vincent, Sandy Mcguire, Lori Denes, Christine Dewberry and Julie Farstad - all members of the Knitting and Crochet Ministry, aka Queen Mary and the Skein Gang.
