Kansas City, MO – President Barack Obama will be in Kansas City this week, mixing campaigning with a discussion about the economy.

National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins, FDA commissioner Margaret Hamberg, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius are meeting with local academic and industry leaders today about the future of cancer treatment.

Missouri is starting its high risk insurance pool by the end of the month. The new state pool is for uninsured people with pre-existing medical conditions.

Yesterday a new bus route opened connecting Johnson County and Waldo.

Starting today people can make reservations and board a trolley in the morning that will take them from Union Station to about a dozen places in Independence and return to Kansas City at 5:30 in the afternoon.

K2 will soon be illegal in Missouri. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is expected to sign a bill later today making the product often called fake pot or synthetic marijuana a controlled substance.

The Kansas City Royals used a late rally to send last night's game into extra innings, and two runs in the tenth provided the winning margin as the Royals defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-4.
