Kansas City, MO – Missouri Gas Energy is looking to cut its rates. The Kansas City based utility filed for approval to lower rates from 94 cents to 77 cents.

A Kansas legislative committee is continuing work on a bill that would cut state spending to make up a $186 million deficit. But the committee is divided over whether money should be cut from public schools.

One area Kansas lawmakers may cut is paying for the burials of unclaimed bodies. The state paid more than 760-thousand dollars to funeral homes around the state for burial and cremation last year.

A nationwide salmonella outbreak has infected nine people in Missouri and two in Kansas.

The Kansas Jayhawks posted a 73-53 win over Texas A & M last night in Lawrence, their 35th consecutive victory at Allen Fieldhouse.
