  • An arbitration board has ruled, and the transfer of school buildings from the Kansas City district to the one in Independence will cost Independence about $12.8 million plus anything it wants to pay for desks, equipment and supplies.
  • In a unanimous ruling Friday, the Kansas Supreme Court upheld the state's new casino gaming law as constitutional.
  • Executions resume in Missouri with the date set for John C. Middleton, convicted of killing two people near the Iowa border in 2005.
