Kansas State coach Bill Snyder was on hand in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Friday for the College Football Hall of Fame announcement. He is one of two coaches and 15 players who being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
Before Snyder was hired at Kansas State in 1989, the Wildcats had been to only one bowl game in the history of the program. When he arrived, the cupboard was bare.
“That’s when you could have 95 on scholarship. It had come down from 105 And continued to decline,” recalled Snyder. “We had 47 on scholarship at the time. We were at less than 50 percent scholarship, the lowest number in the country.”
His time there is now considered the greatest turnaround in college football history.
lso honored was former Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Art Still for his college days at Kentucky.
