How To Be Merry At The Office Holiday Party Without Losing Your Job

Watch out for the booze at holiday office parties.

That was the big message from KCUR’s online audience this week when we asked for your dos and don’ts at workplace shindigs during the holidays.

We posed the question on various social media platforms. On Twitter, we asked for your dos and don’ts with the #TellKCURhashtag.

A lot of your advice stemmed from the open bar at the parties, including how much to drink and how to know when to stop to avoid unnecessary embarrassment – or a visit with a human resources representative.

“Limit your alcohol consumption,” Shawn Howard tells us on Google+. “And leave early. Very early ...”

Many posts poked at office gift exchanges.

On LinkedIn, Nickolas Glanzer tells us: “Don't get into angry arguments about White Elephant gift exchange rules. It makes everyone uncomfortable.”

And some of the tips veered into relationship advice.

“Don't stare at a coworker’s significant other,” Shawn Daugherty tells us on Google+.

Check the roundup below for some of your Tweets. Go online for the full conversation at #TellKCUR.

Tell KCUR is part of a new initiative to engage the community and shine a light on your experiences and opinions. We’ll ask a new question every week and then share your feedback on the air and online.
