Kansas City, KS – The General Accounting Office has turned away a protest of the EPA regional offices move from Kansas City Kansas to Lenexa. One obstacle remains.
The federal building overseer, the General Services Administration had signed a lease to move from city to suburbs when the KCK building owner filed a protest. Among the claims, the move broke two presidential Executive Orders that federal offices nurture core cities.
Urban America lost its bid to stay the move when GAO today denied the protest.
There is still hope for move opponents and a threat to proponents. Unified Government of KCK filed suit last week in federal district court using some of the same arguments.
KCK Mayor Joe Reardon said today the move is contrary to public policy.
