Former Grandview Police Officer Sentenced To Life Without Parole
There is no chance of parole for a retired Grandview, Mo. policeman, convicted of killing a woman in 2008.
Jeffrey Moreland said nothing as he was sentenced by a Cass County judge in the shooting death of Cara Jo Roberts.
DNA linked the 54-year-old to duct tape used to bind the woman at her Harrisonville, Mo. home. He will serve life without parole plus another 50 years.
Three years passed without discovery of a suspect after Roberts was killed. A DNA match came after Moreland was arrested for the murder of 75-year-old Kansas City resident, Nina Whitney.
Moreland awaits trial in that case and a separate rape case.
