Finally, Kansas City Has A Home For Its Auto History

The Kansas City Auto Museum

Kansas City holds an astonishing amount of auto history from the first African-American auto dealer in the U.S. to the park and boulevard system started in the 1890s that shaped our city's traffic flow today.

Up until a few months ago, Kansas City was the largest metropolitan area in the country without a public auto museum. On Wednesday's Up to Date, Steve Kraske cruises through the newly opened Kansas City Automotive Museum and how it is driving traffic to its home in Olathe, Kansas.

Guests:

  • Kyle Yarberis the Historical Director and Curator at the KC Auto Museum.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
