"When Etta James passed away I decided it would be a good thing to sit down and listen to a lot of her best songs," Silenzi says. "She's probably best known for her song, 'At Last.' "
Silenzi sing-talks the lyrics to the song, "Her love has come along, her lonely days are over, and life is like a song."
"I just don't think it works like that. She says we're in heaven and you're mine, I mean, chances are we are in heaven, but Newt wants an open marriage, or here we are in heaven, but oh my god, you have a criminal record! It just isn't as easy as I think she's singing about in that song. So I don't find it very romantic," she says.
"But she has this other song, 'Sunday Kind of Love.' She'd like to know it's more than love at first sight and I think that's more realistic. At this stage in my life, I want a love that's on the square. I don't want a spell cast, or the thrill of the never known, though all that sounds really fun." Silenzi says.
"I just want to meet someone to go to Trader Joe's with, or cook dinner for, or to come along to the dog park," she says. "As far as love songs go, I like songs about pining, and about the regular... much more than a song about trying to find a happy ending."
