Crown Center Bans Water Play In Fountains

Crown Center's massively popular fountain display is officially off limits for play in the sprays. A release issued today says, "effective immediately, people will no longer be allowed in the Crown Center Square Fountain."

According to the statement, Crown Center security will enforce the new rule.

As the summer rolls along, this change will no doubt be disappointing for many living or visiting the area. However, in the statement, the entertainment headquarters says safety is what's most important:

"This summer we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of visitors to Crown Center... With the larger crowds, however, has come a growing concern about the safety of adults and children playing in the Crown Center Square Fountain. The increase in visitors also increases the potential for accidents, or for exposure to water-borne health issues in a facility that was never designed or intended to be a public pool."

Crown Center's fountain display is made up of almost 50 water jets shooting water to about 60 feet in the air. The water is recycled into a reservoir underground.

The center's regular water shows should not be affected by the new no-water-play policy.
