Kansas City, MO – The US Senate begins debate this week on the biggest immigration reform plan since 1996. Kansas Senator Sam Brownback has signed on to a bill that includes enhanced border security, a guest worker program, and a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Kansas City area immigration lawyers were lobbying in Washington DC last week; one law they are trying to change calls for permanent deportation for anyone who falsely claims to be a US citizen. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross looks at how this law has affected some local families.
