Charge In Overland Park House Attack
Enough people were willing to talk about a gun assault on an Overland Park, Kansas house, investigators have arrested a man and charges are leveled.
Local and federal officers made the arrest in a crime that was unusual, so few drive-by shootings happen in that Johnson County, Kansas locale.
Late in the evening of September 30th, someone drove to a ranch home near 99th Terrace and Kessler and opened fire, putting as many as 10 rounds into walls and windows.
An 8 year old boy was wounded and survived.
Two other children were inside with their mother and none was hit.
Prosecutors say the man behind the gun was 27 year old Phillip Ricardo Bennett of Kansas City, Kansas.
Overland Park Officer Gary Mason said federal marshals were on the arrest ten nights after the shooting because-- “they can get into places a little bit quicker than we can to respond.”
Mason said the turning point was cooperation from a lot of people close to the shooting,” and we got good information, a good investigation with our detectives and the information we got from the victims and the witnesses.” Officer Mason said citizen assistance helped put everything together to help make the arrest.
Bennet, the man arrested, was to make a first court appearance before the week was out.
