Bloch Building Creates Third Way in Museum Architecture

It's been a decade since Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum opened in Bilbao, Spain. Since that time, art museum expansion has boomed. And critics are calling the Bloch Building - which opened to the public on June 9 - the best new museum in a generation.

Kansas City, MO – It's been a decade since Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum opened in Bilbao, Spain. And since that time, art museum expansion has boomed. Some museums have been criticized for overshadowing the works they shelter. But critics say the new addition at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Bloch Building, seems to have escaped that modern pitfall. In fact, some have called it the best new museum in a generation. KCUR's Laura Spencer reports.
