American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House.

You can make the case that Andrew Jackson set the table for President Barack Obama. By Up to Date, Jan 26, 2009

Kansas City, MO – Listen to the Program

Newsweek editor Jon Meacham writes about our seventh President in a new book titled American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House.

With Newsweek since 1995 and its editor since 2006, Jon Meacham has written about, supervised and overseen coverage of the stories and issues of our time. From the impeachment of a President to the war in Iraq, Meacham and Newsweek have won acclaim and awards for reporting on current events.

As immersed as he is in what is going on in the world today, Jon Meacham repeatedly goes back to explore and write about historical figures and movements. His books have examined the friendship between Roosevelt and Churchill, the imprint of religion on our politics and in American Lion, the complex personal and public life of our seventh President.

In an interview with Steve Kraske, Jon Meacham talks about many of the subjects that have captured his attention as a journalist and as an author. They discuss some of the important issues, events and people both past and present and the impact they have on our lives.
