I was born and raised in Northwest Missouri and attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia where I obtained a bachelor's degree in Persuasive Speech Communications in 1994. Upon graduation, I married my high school sweetheart, Chris Thompson, and began my future in public radio at KBIA-FM. After moving to Kansas City in 1996, I promptly sought a position as an underwriting executive at KCUR. Public radio is such a part of me, and working for a non-profit is very compatible with my personality. I enjoy spending time with my family, and I hope that my teenage daughter, Taylor, and my son, Gage, may both work in public radio some day!
In 2003, my husband and I began partnering with Lakota leaders on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota with economic/community development efforts. My family makes an annual trip to help with projects and to visit friends, and we hope to continue for many years to come. I enjoy volunteering with youth projects, renovating old homes, hosting tea parties, and travelling.
