Andrea Silenzi is the former producer of Central Standard and The Walt Bodine Show. She previously worked as a Culture Producer for WNYC in New York, and was involved in the development of their online culture coverage. Her work has been featured on PRI's Studio 360, the Third Coast Filmless Festival, Transom.org, Performance Today, WFMU's Too Much Information and WFMU's Seven Second Delay. She is a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and Wesleyan University, and holds the world record for most guests booked for an hour-long radio show.

Remembering Veteran Jacob Andrews

Every day, on average, 18 U.S. veterans commit suicide. On April 5th of this year, infantryman Jacob Andrews went into the woods behind his Kansas City home and joined that grim statistic. We'll hear his story from his mother Laurie Turner and reporter Bill Murphy Jr., who told Andrews' story in Stars and Stripes magazine.

The KC Renga: Ghost Over Water

The poems were on display at the Leedy-Voulkos gallery in the Crossroads throughout the month of May.

At the beginning of May, a national art project started here in Kansas City.  This was first stop on a national tour for a conversation in the form of America Now and Here.  Here’s how a Renga works — more than 30 Kansas City poets were challenged to write tens lines each….the subject that emerged is Kansas City, with references to cattlemen, ghosts, prairie grass, and Troost.

The Wizards Sport a New Name

Sporting has a new logo that will appear on the team's T-shirts and bumper stickers.

Kansas City, MO – The wizards soccer team has waved a marketer's special re-branding wand and done away with their name. Instead of the wizards, they will now be called Sporting Kansas City.

Sporting Club COO Greg Cotton explains that the nickname for Sporting Kansas City will be "Sporting."
