Without names, Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards would not say whether the female victim is a missing Olathe woman.

Olathe Police say 22-year-old Kaylie Bailey and her one and a half year old daughter were reported missing May 3, last seen nearly a week earlier.

The United States Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that police must obtain a search warrant to draw blood in routine drunk driving arrests.

The case stems from a 2010 drunk driving arrest in Cape Girardeau. At question is whether a Missouri Highway Patrol Officer violated Tyler McNeely’s protection from unreasonable search and seizure when he drew McNeely’s blood with neither a warrant nor his permission.

Two explosions rocked the finish line of the Boston Marathon this afternoon, leaving at least three dead and dozens injured, the Boston Police Department reports.

The explosions happened in quick succession four hours after the beginning of the race, the world's oldest and one of the most prestigious road races in the world. At that point, the majority of 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line.

A disbarred lawyer has pleaded guilty in Kansas City federal court to stealing from a fund for two murdered children.

The investigation tracked back 5 years.

The former lawyer, disbarred in 2009, admitted to a U.S. District Judge he stole from a fund he set up to build a memorial to Lindsey and Sam Porter, two Independence children killed by their father during a custody battle in 2004.

The fund was to build a playground in the children’s names.

When the theft was discovered, Kent Desselle returned the missing $12 thousand.

A federal grand jury has indicted three Kansas men on charges that they operated a global sales and supply network for synthetic marijuana.

Bradley Miller of Wichita, his brother, Clark Sloan of Tonganoxie, and Sloan’s son Jonathan Sloan of Lawrence face charges of mail fraud, conspiracy, distribution of a misbranded drug, smuggling, and conspiracy to launder money from the operation. They’re accused of manufacturing and distributing a marijuana substitute called K2 through businesses named Bouncing Bear Botanicals and Persephone’s Journey.
