Allergies: Indoor, Outdoor & Everywhere
With the temperatures soaring this week, spring has burst onto the scene… and that means lots of pollen.
On Thursday's Up to Date, we talk with local allergist Dr. Scott Frankel about what you can do when you get that itch in your eyes and your sinuses feel like they’re going to burst.
As a child, Scott Frankel suffered from severe allergies and asthma, and continued with milder issues as an adult, prompting him to enter the field of Allergy & Immunology. Areas of interest include severe asthma, allergy and sinus disease, and the unique vocal problems affecting singers and others involved with public speaking. Dr. Frankel earned his M.D. at Washington University School of Medicine in 1979. After an Internal Medicine residency at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, he completed an Allergy & Immunology clinical and research fellowship at Barnes Hospital/Washington University. Dr. Frankel has been recognized as a top physician by three national publications (Regional Top Doctor in America's Top Doctors, 2006-2007, listings in Guides to America's Top Physicians, 2006 and Consumers' Guide to Top Doctors, 2002). In 2007, he was again honored and chosen by other Kansas City allergists to receive the Allergy & Immunology “Super Doctor” award and published in KC Magazine. He was the first allergy and immunology specialist to receive this special designation in KC; for each year 2010, 2011and 2012 he has been identified again as a "Super Doctor" by KC Magazine. Dr. Frankel has also been selected by patients for the second year in a row to receive "The Patient's Choice Award" for 2009, a designation provided by Castle & Connolly. Local 435 South magazine lists him, by a vote of his peers, as a Top Doctor in Kansas City. He has been in practice with Kansas City Allergy and Asthma Associates, P.A. since 1984.
