On Monday's Up to Date, veterinarian Wayne Hunthausen joins Steve Kraske to talk about ways to acquire a furry friend and discuss what you should watch for when picking out a pet.

Tori Fugate, manager of marketing and development of the KC Pet Project, also joins the conversation.

We also look at how to handle a pet with psychological damage from a previous owner and what to do to prepare your home for a new arrival.
