Kevin Alexander

Promotion and Special Events Coordinator

Kevin Alexander is the promotions and special events coordinator at KCUR and also works with many of the station’s volunteers. He first came to the station as a work-study student in 1991 while pursuing a master’s degree at UMKC’s School of Education. Within a couple of years, Kevin left the station to complete his student teaching – thinking that if ever he returned to KCUR, it would be in the role of a volunteer. In less than a year, he was back at the station – having been hired to serve “temporarily” as the station’s volunteer coordinator. His plans then were to work “just a pledge drive or two.”

In the 20+ years since, Kevin’s job responsibilities have been revamped a number of times, but he still enjoys the privilege of working with the station’s volunteers during membership drives and special events. Thanks to public radio, Kevin says, he is surrounded by fascinating people every day.
